delhi metro

It has now been more than a year since I started living in Delhi NCR. During this period, I have done the majority of my travelling Metro. I have spent some looong hours in a single stretch inside the metro. Many times, I have been able to afford myself some idle time while I’m travelling. And in one of those idle times, I started wondering different kinds of people

The ones sitting, and the ones standing. Someone would be standing on top of your face, waiting to pounce upon the seat as if the spirit of an eagle has possessed him. There would be another relatively less hasty soul who the eagle would look at with cunning eyes as if saying ‘i will reach there before you. Mocking laughter. I will thrash you in this game of thrones and i will beat the ahit out of you. Mwahaha.’ these eagles are very enthusiastic and keep on scourging for every potential vacant seat which they find by observing the elite sitting class. They have a strong tendency to become the elite, and would not stop at anything less than that. No sir, a shared seat an extra person sitting allowed by employing the indigenous indian jugaad technique would just not do for our eagles. No, they need to be the single king of their kingdom, seat that is. There are others who are eagles to begin with but somewhere down the line, they lose their, enthusiasm. Such souls either are unable to handle more than one humiliating defeat or are capable of handling it but want to show off that they are indifferent to this mad race to the kursi. Some of then would become the Sonia Gandhi’s of the metro by leaving seats which was not theirs to take in the first place.
