It happened suddenly. The definition of one moment. The basic unit of time. The most elementary presence of our existence. It happened in one such instance. It was raining heavily. And the wet rainbow had now disappeared. The roads were all bathed, and happy. It seemed to me that the only happiness I was feeling was that of the road I was walking upon. The cars were moving rather slow and the walkers seemed to be mocking them. But I was not mocking the slow moving cars. For I was sad. Melancholy eyes. Tears in the brain. Heart doing the thinking. Butterflies where they shouldn’t be. A stray dog trying to hide beneath a half-shadowing roof of a broken shop. It looked like a sad dog. It had the same melancholy eyes as mine. I compared my sadness with its assumed sadness and concluded that the dog was more miserable than me. For no reason. Just like my sadness – it had no reason. And then it happened. I realized that my sadness really had no base, no cause, no reason and no root. Just like my happiness.
